Tahith Chong ‘has an agreement’ with Inter, but want to loan him out: report

In the wake of the Manchester derby, it has certainly been a busy day here at Old Trafford Faithful HQ. However, we’ve always got time to cover our bread and butter; transfer talk.

Earlier today, we covered a story from The Sun in which it was claimed that United were ‘confident’ they could convince Tahith Chong to remain at Old Trafford.

Well, the usually reliable Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has given his take on the situation…

Romano backs that up somewhat, by stating that United are ready to offer a new, five-year contract if Chong chooses to remain in Manchester.

However, the talented 20-year-old apparently has an agreement in place with European giant Inter Milan, who he’d join as a free agent. The reason behind Chong not signing that contract already is due to the fact that the Serie A side wishes to loan him out…

It seems pretty clear to me that Chong wants to join an elite club, but earn playing time at said club as opposed to heading somewhere else on a short-term basis.

Based on recent performances for United, I’m honestly not sure that’s a realistic possibility. Sure, Chong is a talented young man but he’s still an extremely raw, rough around the edges player who has much to learn.

I’ve said it time and time again, I wouldn’t bend over backwards for Chong. If he stays, great, if not, I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it…
