A Tahith Chong loan move has been in the offing over the last few weeks. Now, we know the Dutchman’s destination…
After signing a new Manchester United contract back in March, we were all intrigued in regards to Chong’s next step.
He’s obviously a young man with massive potential, who hasn’t really been able to showcase his abilities – aside from a couple of great cameos as a substitute here and there.
Regular playing time is exactly what the doctor ordered, and he’ll get that over the next ten months over in the Bundesliga. He’ll be plying his trade for Werder Bremen, who definitely needed some extra quality out wide. No doubt Chongy will offer them that.
Chong took to Twitter to confirm the news earlier today, as the 20-year-old United star leaves Old Trafford on loan. Check out the snap of him all-smiles below, as the Dutchman expressed he’s ‘excited’ to get to work.
Can Chong make it at Old Trafford?
Well, he definitely has the talent. The winger looked pretty good as a make-shift left-back last time out against LASK Linz, though the quality of opponent in a meaningless game makes it hard to judge that display.
It’s all about how well he does while on loan with Werder. Hopfeully, they can offer him regular starts out wide, allowing the Dutchman to build up the confidence and showcase his full ability.
At this stage, United are jam-packed with quality out wide so he was never going to get the minutes here. I’ve no doubt that this loan move will do him the world of good, but he has to start week-in-week-out with Werder to give himself a chance at playing in Manchester in 2021/22.
