Tahith Chong to be offered £35k-a-week by Juventus to walk away from Man Utd for free: report

Manchester United Football Club has always been a breeding ground for talented up-and-comers. The ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’ mantra has never died. Expect that to continue for the foreseeable future, too.

However, every now and then, some players decide to depart from the club in search of first-team football quicker. Paul Pogba is probably the biggest example of that over the last decade or so, before United spet huge money to bring him back.

Anyway, it seems as though Tahith Chong is now being offered an identical route out of Manchester to that the Frenchman took back in 2012.

The story comes from The Sun in an exclusive, who state that the talented 20-year-old will be offered a big-money contract by Juventus – to quit out on the Reds and leave for free.

Apparently, the Old Lady have placed a £35,000-a-week contract, with a mega signing bonus on the table. With only six months left on his current deal, Chong is free to speak to overseas clubs about signing on a pre-contract.

Obviously, it always hurts losing your players, particularly youngsters and even more so when they walk away for free. However, it’s United’s fault. They haven’t signed Chong down to a long-term deal and now the ball is in his court.

Chong has played a handful of first-team games this season but it’s fair to say he’s largely underwhelmed. He was pretty solid against Wolves in his last appearance, but again, he hardly set the world alight.

Why should he stay if United aren’t going to give him the minutes he feels he deserves? Personally, I’d let him walk as we haven’t seen enough as United shouldn’t bow into anyone’s demands.

I don’t think this will be the only time we hear this talk, either, with Angel Gomes in a similar situation…
