Talented Man United duo return to club after loan spells ended

We’re now approaching in the middle of the January transfer window, with Manchester United remaining completely inactive in terms of potential incoming signings.

However, the Red Devils have today confirmed that two talented youngsters have headed back to Old Trafford for differing reasons following loan spells.

First up, we have Joel Pereira. There was talk recently suggesting that Vitoria Setubal ended his loan, but United have today stated that the Reds have activated the recall clause in his loan agreement. He’s now back at the Aon Training Complex.

Whether that’s due to a lack of playing time, or the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to get a look at him remains to be seen. I’d hope it’s the later, but I’ll assume it’s the former.

Then you have Matty Willock. This time, it was the receiving club that ended the deal, with St. Mirren terminating his contract and sending him back to Manchester.

Now aged 22, you start to wonder whether Willock has the quality to play for United on a regular basis. He’s obviously a talented lad, but so far, things just haven’t quite worked out for him..

Welcome home, lads!
