It has been a roller coaster of a season for Manchester United thus far, and it is no more the Alex Ferguson Era where you were feeling extremely confident every single game you went into. Post Fergie has been very different however, and under David Moyes Manchester United were the exact opposite. Louis van Gaal is doing his best to restore that fear factor.
United are currently on a six game winning streak, and we’ve picked out three players who have been the vital elements to our success recently.
1) David De Gea
How can you define him? Brilliant, amazing, superb, class and extraordinary would be the words that would only understate the goalkeeper. There is no doubt that he has been the best player for Manchester United so far this season. He has made numerous saves almost every game, organizes his defense well and his judgement has been very good. In my opinion, he is the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment, and the sooner United get him tied down to a new deal the better.
2) Wayne Rooney
Nobody divides opinion like Wayne Rooney does, and this season brought added pressure for the 29-year old. Rooney has been handed the captaincy for club and country and he is showing why he is the right man to wear the armband. Manchester United have always had great captains like Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Nemaja Vidic, and so far Wayne Rooney is certainly following suit. His form has been great this season, he bagged six goals and earned three assists, and he really leads from the front.
3) Michael Carrick
He genuinely may be one of the most underrated players in the world. Carrick was considered a serious candidate for the captain’s role, and perhaps the lengthy injury he suffered cost him any chance of getting the captains arm band on a permanent basis. It is not luck that he started six games and Man Utd have won all of them since his return. His presence has always been felt. The long forward passes, tackles that break the play, timely interceptions and turning a defense into attack still remains in his blood. He is calm and composed on the ball, and his versatility is also a big plus.
