Three derby day performers who have to be dropped for Manchester United’s next game

Manchester United Football Club succumbed to the pressure and lost the first derby of the new era. Jose Mourinho’s men had a poor first half, where our new coach didn’t cover himself in glory tactically. However, some players were nothing short of woeful.

We’ve picked out a trio who underperformed horrendously, and perhaps they need to be benched for the potentially tricky trip to Feyenoord this coming Thursday.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – We all know just how talented Mkhitaryan is. However, concerns about his fitness came to light after the game, which begs the question as to why Mourinho risked him.

He just didn’t get in the game at all, and looked like a rabbit in the headlights for the 45 minutes he played before he was hauled off. It’d make sense to let him sit the next one out and get 100% healthy for the game at the weekend.

Wayne Rooney – Our club captain just hasn’t been at the races at the start of this campaign, and it has been a real shame to see. He has looked lost, unable to pick a pass, and has slowed down our counter attacks plenty of times already.

The 30-year-old wasn’t awful against City, but he didn’t really show enough in an attacking sense, and you do expect much more from a real quality #10.

Jesse Lingard – What a disaster Lingard had. He barely got a touch of the ball for 45 minutes, and whenever he had it, the winger seemed to lose it almost instantly.

Jose clearly loves the Englishman, and the 23-year-old obviously has plenty of talent, but it just was not his day.
