Three Man United youngsters set to feature in squad vs Palace

Manchester United take on Crystal Palace tomorrow, just a few days after the Red Devils’ game against Liverpool; in which the squad was decimated by injuries.

That left intrigue aplenty going into the game at Selhurst Park tomorrow, and now the official club website state that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told them that Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and James Garner will all feature in the match-day squad.

At United, the ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’, mantra has always rung true. Solskjaer knows that better than most and after encouraging performances from both Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira over the weekend, the Baby Faced Assassin will be feeling confident.

It’s just tough that so many problems have cropped up at the exact same time. That makes it hard for any manager as players often need time to adjust.

We’ve seen glimpses of both Chong and Gomes and they’re incredibly talented young fellows. My main concern is they’re a little lightweight, but when in possession and trying to attack, you cannot doubt their quality.

Garner is the unknown quantity. As a central midfielder, the opening may well be there with both Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic struggling. Whether he’ll start is another matter, but if he does get the opportunity to play, no doubt he’ll grasp that chance with both hands. He’s certainly good enough.
