Manchester United’s squad is already looking a whole lot different under their new manager, with Jose Mourinho making wholesale changes. His work is far from done though, and there are still a lot of squad members he’d consider dead wood, and would like to move on if the opportunity arises.
We’ve taken a look at three senior players who have been on the fringes of things at the start of this season, and a move away may be in their best interests to further their playing careers.
The most obvious one is Bastian Schweinsteiger. The German international has had a torrid time at Old Trafford which is painful to say. He is without doubt one of the finest midfielders of his generation, but unless he wants to rot on the bench all year, then he has to force a move out, and quickly.
This is somewhat of a controversial one. We’ve seen exactly what Depay is capable of when given a run in the side, but he’s not getting the minutes at the moment. Depay’s confidence is completely shot at this point in time, and a loan move back to PSV would certainly regain that, and let him show Jose exactly what he is capable of.
I feel a bit sorry for Pereira. He’s clearly supremely talented, and has that typical Brazilian flair. However, there is just too many players ahead of him in the pecking order. Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all play in his favoured position to a much higher level than Pereira does, and a permanent transfer would probably be best because I don’t ever see him making it here.
