Manchester United have always been known for producing youth products and giving them their opportunity on the grandest stage.
Despite initial concern, that’s a mantra and mindset that Jose Mourinho has proudly upheld. Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, and recently Andreas Pereira have all looked good under the self-proclaimed Special One.
Now, three more United stars in the making have been given their chance. According to the Manchester Evening News, Callum Gribbin, Mason Greenwood and James Thompson have all been called up to first-team training, pre-Brighton away.
Both Gribbin and Greenwood have trained with the regular squad on occasion before, with the former particularly impressing during his time with the youth team. Both have great potential to go an awfully long way in this game, and it’s excellent to see them given this opportunity.
Thompson is a new name. For him, this will mean everything. Mourinho recognises his talents. He clearly wants to see how he adapts and adjusts as he tries to take his game to that next level.
It’s early in these starlet’s careers. Their time will come, no doubt about it. Usually, it’s a good indicator as to who’ll feature on the next pre-season tour when youngsters are called up to first-team training, so keep your eyes peeled for these names next summer.
