Manchester United’s Champions League place for next season is barely hanging on by a thread, and this weekend the club simply have to beat relegation battlers Norwich City. Ahead of that game, we’ve taken a look at a trio of players who simply have to be dropped from the starting line-up.
Lets begin with Rojo. Over the last few weeks he just hasn’t looked interested. His tackling ability has been non-existent, his crossing nowhere near good enough and he is caught out of position far too many times.
For all the effort he puts in, there has been very little end product from Lingard recently. The Englishman has been played in a more central role recently but to no real avail.
He certainly has a long-term future at Manchester United, and Louis van all is clearly a big fan of his versatility. It may be best if he sits out a few games though, perhaps give Memphis Depay some much-needed playing time.
The third man who needs a break is Michael Carrick. The 34-year old still hasn’t been offered a new deal at United and you can see exactly why. He has been a great servant for this club, but his legs just seem to have gone completely.
In the modern game, mobility in the middle of the park is almost essential, and Michael Carrick has next to none of that. The only issue is who do you replace him with, especially now that Marouane Fellaini is looking likely to be handed a three game suspension. Morgan Schneiderlin is probably the best bet to come in alongside Wayne Rooney.
