Three summer signings Manchester United could make to turn them into contenders again

Manchester United have looked way off the pace for Premier League glory for the majority of the season, with Louis van Gaal’s side being very hit and miss for the most part. The style of football hasn’t been great either, but that could change with a few key signings.

We’ve decided to have a look at three very different signings who could change the whole complexion around Old Trafford, and turn the side into title challengers once again.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Arguably the most influential striker in football at the moment. Despite being 34, he’d certainly offer leadership which has been lacking at Old Trafford.

Although he’d be available on a free transfer, you’d imagine the experienced Swede would be on some hefty wages, which could well be a bit of a gamble.

Harry Kane – This man would guarantee you twenty goals a season which is something we’ve lacked. He’s also English which is another bonus, but he wouldn’t come cheap in terms of a transfer fee.

Another issue might be luring him away from Tottenham Hotspur who are his boyhood club, and at this point in time they look a lot better than we do on the pitch.

Raphael Varane – A defensive signing could well be the way to go. Although Daley Blind has done a good job, you feel we still need that world class centre-half who can partner Chris Smalling at the back.

Raphael Varane is certainly a viable option as he isn’t happy in Madrid at the moment due to a lack of playing time. Although he’s another player who wouldn’t come cheap.
