Three youngsters Man United should play before the end of the season

For Manchester United, the season is lost. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now be looking for something to build upon going forward.

The Red Devils have two games remaining against already relegated Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City who are battling the dreaded drop. With nothing to play for, surely this is the perfect opportunity to give youth a chance?

After all, Solskjaer has always said that he’ll try to stick to the ‘United way’ and he has been handed the chance to prove that’s the case. Let’s take a look at three youngsters who the Baby Faced Assassin should give Premier League minutes to over the next week or so…

Mason Greenwood

Everyone expected Mason Greenwood’s name to be on this list, let’s be honest. The Englishman has been in stunning form for the U18s team this season, scoring goals for fun and tacking on assists aplenty.

He has had a taste of first-team action off the substitutes bench, but we’re desperately hoping to see him start a game. Unfortunately, all eyes will be on the final day of the season for Greenwood as Solskjaer confirmed he’s injured and will miss the Red Devils’ trip to Huddersfield.

James Garner

For me, James Garner has been massively unlucky this term. The midfielder is massively talented but for whatever reason, his ability has gone somewhat under the radar.

Now I understand that he’s been in match-day squads on multiple occasions, but with our midfield struggling, why not put him in the game and see what he can do? Let’s be honest, he cannot do any worse than the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic have been playing this term. He could have a similar effect to Scott McTominay… It’s definitely worth the risk.

Tahith Chong

The Dutchman has been United’s top prospect for the last few years and we’re beginning to see Tahith Chong being slowly blooded into the first-team fold. After a couple of pre-season tours, the teenager got his chance to play against Reading back in January but he looked a little lightweight.

I think we’d all like to see him let loose during our final two matches but the point still stands that he needs to hit the gym and bulk up this summer. He can learn from Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford in that regard.
