Manchester United spent heavily last summer, which was Jose Mourinho’s first in charge of the club. The January just gone was much quieter, however, with the self-proclaimed Special One choosing not to replace the outgoing Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay.
In my opinion, this coming summer we’ll be much more active as the manager looks to mould his squad into more of one that suits his playing style.
Now, the Manchester Evening News states that one of AS Monaco’s stars would be interested in a move to Old Trafford; but only under one condition. The report suggests that the 22-year-old Frenchman would consider a Manchester United transfer, but he’d want Champions League football on the table.
The fact that Bakayoko wants top level European football indicates just how far he has come over the last twelve months or so. I haven’t watched him play much, but the way he bullied the Manchester City midfield in the Champions League just a couple of weeks ago was sensational for a man of his age – he also popped up with the game-winning goal in the dying embers.
He’s a fantastic talent, and AS Monaco will be desperate to keep hold of him for as long as possible. With that said, money always talks and if Manchester United bid enough, perhaps they could be tempted into selling.
The report also adds that Chelsea are also interested in signing the holding midfielder, and they’ve already agreed personal terms.
