Manchester United could have just been dealt a fatal blow in their pursuit of Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan. That’s what talkSPORT write, who cite Italian reports. The 28-year-old winger has been subject of Manchester United interest throughout the summer window.
Now though, it looks as though Jose Mourinho will have to turn his attentions elsewhere. However, the Red Devils boss has to get a move on as we’re now into the last month of the summer transfer period.
So far, the Old Trafford club have welcomed key signings like Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof, but you still get the impression that we’re one or two short.
Although we have an abundance of top drawer attacking quality, we really lack that out-and-out winger who’ll hug the touchline and whip balls into the box. Perisic would have brought plenty of that to the table; as well as experience at the highest level of both domestic and international football.
That begs the question as to who Mourinho could now target, and I honestly cannot think of any names whatsoever. Hopefully, he and Edward Woodward will combine to pull someone in – but it’s looking unlikely to happen before the new season kicks off in exactly one week.
