Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has been sent home from their training camp as Manchester United talks continue, according to The Metro. Apparently, the official line from the club is that he has toothache, and he’ll head back to his native Croatia for treatment.
Honestly, to me, this just signals that he will be leaving Inter Milan at some point this transfer window. It just seems far too coincidental that he has left the rest of his teammates as his tooth is a bit sore…
The report from The Metro goes on to add that United have had two offers (the highest of which is £44m) rejected, with Milan holding out for somewhere closer to £48million.
If that bid of £44million is correct, then I don’t see why the Old Trafford club will not just spend that extra £4million and get a deal pushed over the line. It’s pretty clear that Perisic has turned into one of our top transfer targets, and a move for him would definitely make a lot of sense.
This is a player who’d bring some much-needed experience to a rather young front line. He’d also offer us something different. We don’t have a winger who enjoys hugging the touchline and whipping dangerous balls into the box, and the 28-year-old would definitely offer that in abundance.
Take a look at this quick comparison to United’s other wingers:
