Anthony Martial has been in and out of the Manchester United team recently, with the talented forward having to bide his time and wait for his chance. At the weekend, it certainly felt like the Frenchman took his opportunity with both hands, as he scored a goal and also tacked on an assist for Juan Mata.
However, that hasn’t stopped the paper talk, with the Daily Mirror saying that Tottenham Hotspur are tracking the situation of the 21-year-old, due to his uncertain future at the Theatre of Dreams.
The report adds that Pochettino is aware that Martial isn’t a regular at Old Trafford, and could offer him a way out when the summer transfer window opens.
As previously mentioned, Martial did make his first league start in over a month against Watford this weekend, and he did acquit himself nicely. In my opinion, this is just a total non-story. Jose was just working another man-management masterclass – similar to what he did with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The ball is firmly in Manchester United’s court. Martial still has plenty of time left on his current deal here, and there is still a few months to go before the end of the season. If he plays, I’m confident he’ll put these rumours to bed rather quickly.
