Training Squad news: Manchester United’s 22-man squad ahead of Anderlecht game

I would certainly go as far as saying that tomorrow’s clash at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Anderlecht is, quite comfortably, our biggest game of the season. A place in the semi-finals of the Europa League is at stake, and Jose Mourinho will be desperate for a victory.

Ahead of the game, the Manchester Evening News have confirmed some early training squad news, and it appears that the Red Devils will have a 22-man list of players to choose from ahead of the match tomorrow.

It includes all the usual suspects like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David de Gea and Paul Pogba. There is also a place for the returning Wayne Rooney, who has missed action recently. It’s good to have the skipper back available for selection and ready to play.

Perhaps the most intriguing news to me is the fact that Axel Tuanzebe finds himself in the training squad once again. He must be making a positive impression on the coach and who knows, we may well see him get some minutes on the pitch in the not too distant future.

Squad in full:

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira, Antonio Valencia, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial.

Hopefully, we can go out there and put on a show for the Old Trafford crowd. We desperately need to secure safe progression through to the next round, and it’d be beneficial if we could do that within 90 minutes, rather than facing extra-time and penalties if the scoreline finishes 1-1.
