David Moyes will probably be looking to shuffle the pack when United take on Crystal Palace on Saturday, as the Champions League starts up next week and the Scot will be looking to make a flying start in Europe. Both Wilfried Zaha and Marouane Fellaini will be in Moyes’ thoughts as both could potentially make their Manchester United bow.
For Zaha the situation could be quite tricky, Palace are his former side and he was at the club for over ten years before making the move down to Manchester. He earned Palace their promotion to the Premier League almost single-handedly in the Championship play-offs, scoring two goals and winning the penalty in the play-off final. He’ll have a lot of affection for the side that made him the player he is today, and if his mind isn’t right Moyes certainly won’t risk him.
Zaha impressed immensely during pre-season, and many fans would’ve expected him to have featured for United at some point so far but that hasn’t happened yet. David Moyes has trusted the experienced players in the squad such as Giggs and Valencia, but as the new boss settles into the role he’ll be looking to experiment more.
After featuring for his native Belgium a week ago, Marouane Fellaini looks a certainty to make his debut this weekend. He worked under David Moyes for five years at Everton and the Scot will know his game inside-out. Fellaini probably won’t be thrown straight into the deep end in the Champions League on Tuesday, so he’ll be looking to get his minutes against Ian Holloway’s side tomorrow.
