Manchester United take on Watford in a crucial Premier League game tomorrow.
With Luke Shaw a doubt, many thought it could well be Diogo Dalot’s time to shine. However, Jose Mourinho has quashed those rumours by confirming that the young man from Portugal will take part in United’s U23s fixture against Reading this evening. Marcos Rojo will also be involved.
Obviously, we’d all have loved to see Dalot take on Watford but it looks as though the game has come slightly too soon for the 19-year-old. Perhaps the Red Devils’ match against Young Boys next Wednesday is a more realistic return date.
Marcos Rojo and @DalotDiogo will play for #MUAcademy Under-23s v Reading tonight, says the boss.
"If they play the 90 minutes like we expect, then it will be the end of their recovery process and we will consider them ready to be back next week for full competition." #MUFC pic.twitter.com/RsDhnTITIO

As for Rojo, the man from Argentina has turned into the forgotten man somewhat. He’s a great defender, whom I bet Mourinho cannot wait to have back in action. He’s strong, tough in the tackle and a vocal leader; all key traits that have been missing recently.
The sooner the better. Both could certainly offer something to the squad, it’s just a case of ensuring that they are 100% fit rather than rushing them back and risking re-injury.
It certainly gives us another reason to watch the U23s tonight, too. Dalot looked a cut above this level last time out. Hopefully, tonight is more of the same…
