Manchester United have been hot on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s tail for a few weeks now – and it seems as though a breakthrough has been made in the Red Devils’ pursuit of the 21-year-old.
According to Football Insider, Man United are confident of sealing a deal for Wan-Bissaka next week, with the deal thought to be worth around £55million.
Apparently, the 20-time Premier League champions have held ‘extensive negotiations’ with Palace and have made a ‘breakthrough’ after the latest round of talks. The Reds are set to pay an initial £40million, potentially rising to £55million after various add-ons and bonuses.
Wan-Bissaka’s medical has also been planned, in fact, the tests have been brought forward following England’s U21s being dumped out of the European Championships. His medical could now take place next week.
The right-back has been simply brilliant for Crystal Palace over the last twelve months and there’s no doubt that Wan-Bissaka would be a huge upgrade on Ashley Young.
This is an expensive deal, but one that could solve our right-back issues for the next decade. Defensively, I’d argue that Wan-Bissaka is the best full-back in the league – although United will have to help him in terms of getting forward and delivering quality balls into the box.
Hopefully, we see that photo of Wan-Bissaka holding the shirt aloft before the squad jet out on pre-season tour in a fortnight’s time.
