United given green light in pursuit of William Carvalho

Manchester United are set for a huge summer spending spree come the summer, and on top of Moyes’ shopping list is Sporting Lisbon’s Wiliam Carvalho. According to the Mirror, United have scouted the 21-year old midfielder extensively, and have watched him play in the flesh at least eight times.

Carvalho has a huge £37.5m buyout clause in his contract and it is believed that United aren’t willing to meet that fee, but will still submit a substantial offer in the hope that Sporting Lisbon will accept our bid. The Mirror also believe that Carvalho is attracting interest from both Real Madrid and Barcelona, so United will have to act fast.

The midfielder has represented Portugal at every age group from the U17s all the way up to the full national side. He also has 80 league appearances under his belt already, including 19 games for his current side.

Personally I’ve not watched Carvalho play at all, but having been recognised by his national side already tells me that he is regarded as an excellent future prospect by club and country.
