Manchester United have been forced into playing plenty of youngsters this term, which has led to the emergence of several young talents impressing at the highest stage. One of which is Guillermo Varela, who has been a reserve regular for the last few years.
Paul Scholes had his say on the situation, and admitted that Varela has surprised a lot of people and many didn’t think he’d make it.
“He has done better than I expected him to and I think he’s surprised alot of the coaching staff at Man Utd too.” Scholes said when asked about Varela. “As a lad at Man Utd, he was struggling to get into the u-21 team at one point, so I think he’s been the biggest surprise overall.”
The ginger prince isn’t alone either, I don’t think many expected Varela to have made such an impression in the first team. His impact has been brilliant though, and you’d have to argue a case for him to start in the right-back slot from now until the end of the season which is testament to how well he has done.
