United officials meet Van Gaal over managerial job

According to the Mirror, Manchester United officials have met with current Holland boss Louis Van Gaal about the possibility of him becoming Manchester United manager. David Moyes’ future has grown in uncertainty in recent weeks, and it looks as though future planning has already begun if you believe reports.

It is believed that the Manchester United representatives that met Van Gaal including one of the Glazer family, and on the agenda was the possibility of the Dutchman taking over the reigns in the summer.

The 62-year old certainly boasts an impressive CV, including tenures at Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now the Dutch national team. For me though, he won’t be anything more than a quick fix. His methods will probably steady the ship, but theres no chance that he’ll be a long-term part of United’s future plans.

I’m not sure that his tactics suit United either. I’d much rather see Jurgen Klopp or Diego Simeone given the job, both of which may be forced to sell some of their best players in the summer. Especially the former, because the amount of times Dortmund sell their top players to rivals Bayern Munich must become so frustrating, who knows, Klopp may get fed up and want a new challenge.
