David Moyes addressed the media ahead of the Spurs game at the weekend, and the gaffer gave us a much-needed boost on the injury front. The Scot claims that club captain Nemanja Vidic, right-back Rafael and star striker Robin van Persie could all be available for selection at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Rafael da Silva has missed a large part of the season due to an ankle problem, and his presence has sorely been missed in recent weeks. The young Brazilian was a key part of our title success last year, and he offers us that natural width from right-back which we so desperately need. Nemanja Vidic has missed the last couple of games due to concussion, but the big Serb could be set for a return to bring solidity to our back four. Against Leverkusen, Kagawa shined in Van Persie’s absence, but the Dutchman could return after overcoming a groin problem.
“They’ve got a chance, they’ve all got a chance.”
I just hope Moyes doesn’t rush them back, as it could mean a longer spell on the sidelines in the future. The trio don’t have the best history with injuries, and the team that beat Leverkusen 5-0 deserve their chance to impress in a tricky league game.
