United youngster eyes loan deal

Manchester United new-boy Guillermo Varela completed his £2.5million move from Penarol in the summer before competing for Uruguay in the U20 World Cup. The right-back has admitted that a loan move may be good for him this year, as he probably won’t feature in United’s first team every week.

A loan move would make sense as Varela is definitely one for the future rather than now, but United’s lack of recognised right-backs could mean Varela may be kept at United.

Varela told TuttoMercatoWeb

“(Going to Boca) could be a good solution. I would play with continuity for one year, always thinking of returning to United, who is the team which most believed in me,”

“Italian clubs interested in me before arriving at United? I do not know, I would like to play in Italy, but here I’m at the top, in the best side in the world. What more could I want?”

Varela hasn’t played a competitive game in Europe yet, and at just 20-years old it will probably take him a season or so to adjust.
