According to the Daily Star, Robin van Persie is ‘yet to be convinced’ by United’s new manager David Moyes. The 30-year old striker has apparently told pals he is missing Sir Alex Ferguson, who was the main factor in his move to Manchester last summer. They also claim that the Dutchman isn’t happy with Moyes’ training techniques.
I’d certainly take this with a pinch of salt though, the Daily Star aren’t the most reliable paper when it comes to United news, they led the claims that Ronaldo was on his way home back to Manchester this summer and that never happened. Robin van Persie has scored four goals already this season, including two in the Community Shield against Wigan, and to me he looks as happy and hungry as ever.
Now that the transfer window has slammed shut, I reckon the papers are doing all they can to sell a few more copies by making up a story such as this. They’ve probably picked up on the fact that Van Persie looked a little miffed off at Anfield on Sunday, and this coupled with his lack of service over the past two games gives some form of method to their madness.
A ‘friend’ of Van Persie’s apparently said:
“Robin isn’t happy and when that’s the case he can’t hide it on the pitch.
“When he’s frustrated he is capable of doing something silly, and you could see that against Liverpool.
“He feels it isn’t the same with the new manager as he misses working with Fergie, who he really loved playing under. Some of Moyes’ training methods are not to his liking either.”
Like I said, take this with a pinch of salt. Van Persie is part of the Holland national side that will take on Estonia on Friday.
