Victor Lindelof struck with illness, sent home from training today as precaution: report

Manchester United just can not catch a break at the moment, can they? After long-term injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford was then struck down with a back problem.

Today, the treatment table woes were compounded. Apparently, key United defender Victor Lindelof has been sent home from training with an illness, per journalist Rich Fay. The Ice Man was sent away as a precaution – though it does present others with a big opportunity.

Fay actually goes as far as stating that we could see the return of 25-year-old Eric Bailly – who could be in line for his first appearance of the season should he feature against Burnley tomorrow…

Don’t get me wrong here, I can’t wait for the return of Bailly. However, is a game against Burnley’s physical forwards really the sort of fixture to throw him straight back into?

I’m not his biggest fan but perhaps Phil Jones is the best option at this point in time, and what on earth is wrong with Axel Tuanzebe? It’s frustrating because we’ve not really been given any clarification in regards to the severity of his injury.

As for Bailly, he’s not played in over six months. Even if he does start, there’s no way he can feature for 90 minutes unless it’s a routine United victory in which Burnley don’t trouble our defence – something which I highly doubt will happen…

Either way, this seems like a huge risk to me… What d’ya reckon?
