I want to start this one off by saying that, although we hate Manchester City for the most part, Vincent Kompany is a likeable bloke who has done an awful lot for my hometown throughout his tenure here in the North West.
He deserves immense credit for both his on-field and off-field work, and to that, I say thanks to the Belgian. Earning a testimonial, at any club, is immensely difficult – no-less one of the best teams in the world at the moment, so fair play to him.
Anyway, at his testimonial (that Kompany actually missed through injury), there were plenty of United players in the Premier League legends side – and it was superb to see some of these guys lace up their boots once again.
Midway through the second-half, it was Paul Scholes’ turn to take centre-stage as he pulled off an outrageous bit of skill to fool the City defence.
To still have this in your locker, at age 44 no less, is just unbelievable. This man will never lose that passing range, vision or execution, it’s just a shame his legs aren’t what they once were or else he’d still be playing!
Scholes oozes quality and to see him back on the football field was pretty special. It was all for a good cause and it’s nice to see the Ginger Prince getting involved!
