United face Sunderland tomorrow and ahead of the game Sir Alex gave us the eagerly awaited injury news; Nemanja Vidic is fit for a place on the bench at least where he will take the place of Jonny Evans who is missing through a muscle injury he picked up in the derby last weekend.
The boss also confirmed Shinji Kagawa will be back in full training on Monday, and Nani is still not ready for a return to action.
“Nemanja is back in the squad but Jonny Evans is out obviously after his injury last week,” Ferguson continued. “Jonny got the injury midway through the first half and he struggled on to half-time, but I always think with muscle injuries that if you start the second half with it it’s a problem.
“Having Vida back in the squad is a big, big one for us: his experience, his ability to head the ball, his offensive qualities are well renowned now and he’s our captain. Whether I start him or not, that’s another issue. But it’s great to have him back.
Vidic being back is a huge relief more than anything, it boosts our numbers defensively and he is our club captain and you’d expect him to lead from the front. My only concern with Vidic is will he ever reach the levels he was at before these lengthy spells out on the sideline?
“Shinji should start training with the first team on Monday, which is good news,” He added. “He’s doing very well now. Nani is still out. Rio’s okay, there’s no problem with him. We’re more or less in good shape.”
Kagawa is yet to make a big impression in the United shirt, lets hope he can stay fit and get a long run in the side and prove all his doubters wrong, he worked wonders for Dortmund in the three seasons he spent there and i’m sure it won’t be long before he shows us what he is capable of.
Nani’s Old Trafford future is still up in the air, so it’s hard to tell whether this is an legitimate injury or not, although I do expect him to be sold in the January transfer window whatever the situation.
