Patrick Vieira has once again attacked Manchester United, today he has claimed that we get preferential treatment from referees when playing at Old Trafford.
The feud started last week when Vieira claimed that bringing Paul Scholes out of retirement is an act of desperation from the Red Devils, soon after SAF hit back claiming that Mancini is the desperate one for bringing Carlos Tevez into his first team plans. Vieira’s latest outburst comes two days after Michael Oliver didn’t award Fulham a penalty late on in United’s 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
“When United play at home they get some advantage that other teams don’t get,”
“When you go to United, Madrid, Barcelona, or Milan, it’s always difficult for the referee to go against these kind of teams.
“This is the way it is. It’s something the teams who are used to winning get all the time, so we need to win games so we have this advantage in the future.”
Soon after Rio Ferdinand took to social networking to defend the club by tweeting:
“Why is Viera so concerned with Man Utd….2 comments in a week or so….c’mon maaaaaan let it go,”
As we come to the business end of the season the mind games are starting to begin, however Vieira’s outbursts suggest that the blue half of Manchester are starting to crack under the pressure, as since Paul Scholes’ return United have been unbeaten in the league. Stats also show West Brom have been awarded more penalties at home than any other club in the league this season, and does anyone remember the Demba Ba penalty that was given when Rio Ferdinand clearly got a foot to the ball? Vieira certainly doesn’t.
