Manchester United’s third game of their pre-season tour took place in Houston, Texas. Jose Mourinho’s men played fiercest of rivals Manchester City, and it was great to see how our lads got on against one of the toughest sides in the Premier League.
One of the starters was Romelu Lukaku, and his intentions were clear from the off; he wanted to make an impact on the game and boy did he. The Belgian held the ball up wonderfully, but what impressed me most was the intelligent runs he was making – which created space aplenty for his teammates.
Just after the 35-minute mark, the 24-year-old opened the scoring with an excellent piece of play. His pal Paul Pogba played a wonderful ball over the top, to which Lukaku reacted brilliantly, coolly beat Ederson who was in no mans land before powering home.
Have a look at Romelu Lukaku’s goal here:
It was a lovely strike and he took it wonderfully, and it really feels like we have an absolute gem of a player on our hands here. This is a man who’ll guarantee goals every single time he takes to the field, and hopefully, this is the first of many against our noisy neighbours.
