Manchester United could be bracing themselves for one of the most audacious transfer moves of the summer, if reports coming out of the Brentwood Gazette are to be believed. They say West ham are readying a £20million move for Manchester United’s Chris Smalling.
The 26-year old is high on Slaven Bilic’s priorities for this summer, and he wants to add an England regular to the West Ham mix, as the Hammers look to grow in stature and start challenging for major honours.
Obviously Manchester United won’t be keen on parting with one of their star performers this summer, as Smalling has been an integral part of the Red Devils’ defence under Louis van Gaal.
You’d imagine Smalling himself would only be keen on a move if West Ham could somehow upset all the odds and fight into a Champions League spot for next season, but that obviously looks unlikely.
For now, take this one with a pinch of salt, because I don’t see Manchester United selling Chris Smalling any time soon.
