World-class Manchester United superstar set to sign new £200k-a-week contract: report

I know the performance against Brighton yesterday was awful, but at least there is some good news for Manchester United fans this morning…

According to Jose Mourinho, per The Sun, David de Gea is set to sign a new £200k-a-week contract at Old Trafford; ensuring he remains a Red Devil in the long-term.

De Gea has been the one standout performer for this club post-Sir Alex Ferguson. The Spaniard is more than deserving of a bumper new deal. Heck, he should be our highest earner, in my opinion.

At 27, a new deal would mean we’ve tied him down for his best years. Credit where it’s due, doing that, with Real Madrid pushing hard to sign him, is an excellent sign for the future for a club who’ve often been hapless when the Spanish giants come along (Cristiano Ronaldo).

It just gives manager Mourinho one less problem to worry about over the course of the season. He’s already got a lot on his plate, at least he has a constant #1 whom he can count upon week-in-week-out.

Now, if the rest of the squad could give big Dave a hand and guide him to a Premier League title that he so richly deserves, that’d be lovely…
