World star reveals he looked up to Manchester United winger as a kid

Manchester United have been big fans of Gareth Bale for a few years now, with both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal trying to lure the Welsh winger to Old Trafford from Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid respectively – with both bids failing.

Bale himself has a soft spot for a certain Manchester United legend in Ryan Giggs, who he has claimed he looked up to as a kid.

Gareth Bale said: “Who did I look up to as a kid? Ryan Giggs. I used to love watching him play, he was a hero of mine.”

You can see exactly why Bale looked up to Giggsy. Ryan was one of the best wingers in the world and obviously they are both Welsh so the comparison is obvious.

Bale has already done more than Ryan could on the international stage too, and was the hero at Real Madrid in his debut season there. I can also picture the 24-year old playing for Manchester United one day in the future too.
