Young Man Utd star returns to club after loan spell terminated

Big things were expected of Manchester United’s Nick Powell after a truly superb debut season at the club back in 2012-13. The now 20-year old cost £4million from Crewe Alexandra after he almost single-handedly guided them to promotion from League Two.

Since then things have slowed down dramatically, and he went from starting in a Champions League game away at Galatasaray to warming Leicester City’s bench. Injuries certainly haven’t helped his case, but he’ll obviously have to show more in training if he is to impress the stern-faced Louis van Gaal.

Powell played just three times for Leicester City, being on the pitch for a combined total of a measly 40 minutes during that time. There is still six months of the season left, and if you believe reports there are several Championship sides interested in taking his services on loan.

Its not time for panic just yet, because at the end of the day he is still just twenty years of age. He will have to pull his finger out though and prove that he belongs in the same dressing room as the likes of Wayne Rooney and Angel di Maria.

Will Nick Powell be good enough for Manchester United? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
