Zlatan Ibrahimovic: If United needs me, I’m here

Manchester United have played host to some of the greatest players our sport has ever seen.

Perhaps the most recent icon to call Old Trafford his home was Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish legend spent eighteen months in Manchester before heading to the MLS. Of course, he left a positive impression amongst the United faithful.

With Romelu Lukaku now gone and Alexis Sanchez likely to follow suit, Ibrahimovic was asked about whether he could return and do a job in the Premier League. The response couldn’t be any more Zlatan…

“I could play easy in the Premier League, so if United needs me, I’m here,” he said per the BBC.

Galaxy has me, so I’m sorry,”

“I did my job in Europe. I enjoyed it, I have 33 trophies that I brought with me here and hopefully I can get something here.

“And then we will see where that adventure finishes.”

I just would never bet against this man. Now aged 37 he’s still scoring goals for fun, 44 in 49 MLS games to be precise. Now I know the level is a significant drop-off from the Premier League, but would you ever doubt Zlatan?

Although he’s clearly joking, you get the impression that he firmly believes he could still do it at the highest level, but fair play to Ibra, he’s enjoying his time in the MLS as a glittering career winds down.

For what it’s worth I’d probably still take him back purely for that big personality. United are desperate for someone like him at this point in time…
