2016/17 Match Preview: Manchester United vs Stoke City

Manchester United will be looking to back up their victory against Leicester City when Stoke visit Old Trafford tomorrow, as former red legend Mark Hughes will be coming into the game slightly under the cosh from the Potters’ fans.

Date: 2nd October 2016
Kick-off time: 12:00 BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Referee: Robert Madley

This is a game that Manchester United simply have to win albeit so early in the season. Their fiercest of rivals in City have gone out at a rapid pace winning six of six, and Mourinho already finds himself with a six-point deficit to overcome.

Team News

Manchester United have no suspensions at the moment, but they do have a few injuries running through the squad. Luke Shaw currently has a bout of sickness and although he is back in training, I’d be surprised if we see him take to the field. Phil Jones is a long-term casualty with that ACL problem, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could return after overcoming a minor thigh muscle strain.

Score Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Stoke City

Despite their poor form, Stoke will pose a threat to Manchester United tomorrow lunchtime. However, Jose Mourinho’s team should have enough to take all three points. I fancy Zlatan Ibrahimovic to net a couple, and Marcus Rashford to get on the score sheet as well.
