2016/17 Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 West Ham United

David de Gea – Made a good stop late on to deny former Red Ashley Fletcher, but that’s all he had to do. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Played well. Looked solid defensively and offered an outlet going forward. 6/10

Phil Jones – Defended well against the physical Sakho. 6/10

Marcos Rojo – His distribution out from the back has to be worked on. 5/10

Matteo Darmian – Not a natural left-back and struggled. 5/10

Ander Herrera – A fairly quiet afternoon. He missed that protector in the form of Michael Carrick in behind him. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Our best player by a mile – that was summed up by his assist for Ibrahimovic’s goal. It was out of this world. 7/10

Jesse Lingard – Frustrating at times. He just goes missing for long periods of the game and it costs us. 4/10

Juan Mata – Always seems to get subbed off, and that was the case again here after a relatively quiet afternoon. 5/10

Marcus Rashford – Had a golden chance to put United in front in the first half. Just not his day. 4/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Scored a great header, but that’s about it. His marking for West Ham’s opener wasn’t great. 5/10

Subs:

Wayne Rooney – Played well. It’s a wonder as to why he didn’t start.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Looked lively and created chances, unlucky not to have scored.

Marouane Fellaini – Not enoug time to mark.
