David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about Van Persie’s late consolation goal. Putting that to one side he didn’t really have an awful lot to do. 6/10
Matteo Darmian –
Chris Smalling – Jose took the decision to sub him at half-time to keep him fresh for the Chelsea game. Didn’t have much to do during the first 45. 6/10
Eric Bailly – An absolute tank, and put in another quality display alongside Chris Smalling today. 6/10
Luke Shaw – Looked a bit rusty which is understandable. Did well, though. 6/10
Michael Carrick – So underrated. He protected the back four brilliantly and some of the passes he played were truly out of this world. 7/10
Paul Pogba – The Frenchman controlled the game, and kicked things off by scoring a penalty. He then backed that up with a super strike before half-time. Man of the Match. 8/10
Jesse Lingard – Scored a top strike with his right foot. Looked threatening throughout. Also grabbed an excellent assist for Pogba’s second. 7/10
Juan Mata – So good in that number ten role. His ability to bring teammates into the game is fantastic, and his eye for a pass is world class. 7/10
Anthony Martial – Nice to see him back involved. Took his penalty brilliantly. 6/10
Wayne Rooney – Looked much better all-round. His hold-up play was great, as was his passing. However, that lack of pace really kills United’s attacks at times. 6/10
Subs:
Marcos Rojo – Got 45 minutes at centre-back, and didn’t do too badly.
Memphis Depay – Looked lively and a real threat down that left-hand side. I hope Jose Mourinho finds a place for him in the side going forward.
Tim Fosu-Mensah – Got on the pitch fresh off the back of signing his new deal. Not enough time to mark.
