2016/17 Player Ratings: Manchester United 4-1 Leicester City

David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about Gray’s wonder goal. Had nothing to do putting that aside. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Did alright. You do want him to bomb forward more often though. 6/10

Chris Smalling – Scored a nice header, and was brilliantly aerially in the defensive third of the pitch. 6/10

Eric Bailly – Tank. He won absolutely everything and didn’t give Islam Slimani a sniff. Great all-round game. 7/10

Daley Blind – Moved to left-back but did great. Shaw must be sweating on regaining his place in the team. 6/10

Ander Herrera – The best performance we’ve seen from Ander. His energy and awareness in the middle was a joy to watch. Comfortable Man of the match. 9/10

Paul Pogba – Scored his first goal, controlled the midfield and looked a real threat going forward. That was the Pogba we spent £89million on. 8/10

Jesse Lingard – Didn’t do anything amazing, but didn’t do anything horrific either. Average display, but one Mourinho will be pleased with. 5/10

Juan Mata – Passed like the Juan Mata we know. He was delightful to watch this afternoon, and he controlled the game in the attacking third. 7/10

Marcus Rashford – Another game, another goal. His pace was frightening at times and he always seems to be in the right place positionally. 7/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Played brilliantly despite not getting a goal. Held the ball up well and brought Rashford into play superbly. Should’ve scored. 7/10

Subs:

Michael Carrick – Killed the game and protected the back four.

Wayne Rooney – Kept it nice and simple.

Ashley Young – Looked energetic.
