Manchester United could have just been handed a huge piece of transfer news, with reports from the Daily Express claiming that Alvaro Morata has told his mates that a move to Old Trafford is a done deal. The 24-year-old’s mind is made up and he is ready to say goodbye to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Express adds that the Spaniard apparently left his honeymoon to speed up talks with Florentino Perez, and that seems to have helped with a deal nearing completion.
It became plainly obvious that Jose Mourinho simply had to bring in a new striker following the news that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract was not going to be renewed. Last year, the Swede scored 28 goals across all competitions and that tally needs replacing.
When you compare Morata’s 20-goal haul to that, the Real Madrid man stacks up well, considering that he played much fewer minutes than his Swedish counterpart.
This is a signing that I would absolutely love us to make. The prices being mentioned certainly aren’t cheap but at this point in time, a new focal point for the attack is an absolute necessity. To hear that Morata himself seems confident that a deal is done is a huge boost.
