3-5-2: How Man United could line up when Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns from injury

Manchester United Football Club have been in imperious form at the start of the 2017/18 season. Jose Mourinho really has got the Red Devils playing an excellent style of football, and long may that continue right until the title is decided in May.

Way before then, though, a certain striker is expected to return from injury. In fact, Zlatan Ibrahimovic actually said he’ll be ‘back soon’. With that in mind, we’ve decided to take a look at the potential starting XI for when the big man returns.

Check out the potential starting XI here:

Obviously, the first point of note is the fact that we’d likely switch to a 3-5-2 to accommodate both Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku. At this point in time, the Belgium international is truly undroppable due to his scintillating form and pairing them both would give opposing defences nightmares due to their sheer physical presence.

This is a team for when everyone is fit and there are some notable absentees. There is no space for Antonio Valencia which is a concern, although he can certainly play in that right-wingback spot when needed. Anthony Martial could also chop and change with Marcus Rashford.

I guess the one issue I’d have with this team is the mobility. There isn’t much pace in that front two, and I fear that the pair are too similar to play together every single week. I guess we’ll see how it goes when both are fully fit and firing later on in the season.
