Jose Mourinho is about to become one midfielder lighter, with Marouane Fellaini agreeing a pre-contractual agreement with Turkish side Besiktas, according to Fotomac, translated by The Sun.
The 30-year-old is yet to sign a new deal at Manchester United, now it’s looking likely that Fellaini has his mind set on a move elsewhere.
With Michael Carrick retiring, this presents Mourinho with a huge problem. The self-proclaimed Special One will be two midfielders down, meaning he’ll have major issues to fix when the summer transfer window opens.
Personally, I’ve never really understood the flak that Fellaini gets. He’s an excellent player, capable of doing a certain job when a particular situation arises.
With that said, I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to move away. The fans have never taken to the 6’4 midfielder so what reason does he have to stay? Heck, he probably cannot wait to leave and play regular football elsewhere.
Losing him is one thing, but letting him go on a free will hurt, especially after spending big money to sign him when David Moyes was in charge back in 2013. The Glazers certainly won’t be happy, that’s for sure.
