£30million-rated right-back favours Man United move this summer: report

Manchester United certainly could be in the market for a new right-back this summer. Today, it seems as though a decent option could have fallen right into their laps.

The report comes from the usually reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, and he says that Kieran Tripper favours a move to Manchester United over a proposed switch to Napoli in the Serie A.

Apparently, the Napes-based side and Tottenham Hotspur’s valuation is around €15m euro apart, with the Londoners demanding around €35m (£30m) to let the 28-year-old leave this summer.

Being from Manchester, it’s understandable to learn that Tripper would prefer to move back home rather than heading to Italy. With Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian likely to leave this summer, this seems like a move that makes good sense for all involved.

Trippier has struggled at Spurs this season but he’s still an upgrade on what we have, plus, he’d bring some Premier League experience to the table. Given the £30million fee, this is a gamble well worth taking and there’s no doubt he’d single-handedly improve the overall look of our starting line-up.

You can make of that what you will. Call it a fall from grace, call it setting our bar too low, but I like Trippier and perhaps a move away would do wonders for his confidence and he’ll get back to putting in displays like the ones were saw with England at the World Cup last summer.
