Manchester United have completed plenty of transfer business this summer, with Jose Mourinho bringing in hugely talented footballers, like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, one man they’ve reportedly missed out on is Sadio Mane…
Mane, who has just made the move to Liverpool has spoken out about his move, and claimed that Manchester United were interested and he rejected them as Liverpool represents a better fit.
“Yes, it was true (Manchester United were interested),” he said.
“There was interest from a lot of clubs, not just Manchester United, but as soon as I knew Liverpool were interested I just felt it was the right club with the right coach. It was right for me to come here.”
Personally, I’m a huge fan of Mane’s. He is an extremely talented winger with bags of pace and is a deadly finisher when under pressure. However, I find it very tough to believe that Manchester United had a firm offer on the table for the Senegal international. There was nothing concrete reported by the media which suggests there was, and you’d imagine it’s a tactic on Liverpool’s part, to endear Mane immediately to their fans.
