4-2-3-1: Man United’s likely XI vs Crystal Palace – Ander Herrera & Anthony Martial start in speedy line-up

Manchester United play just one more fixture before the second international break of the season. Jose Mourinho’s men host bottom of the table Crystal Palace, in a game where only a victory will suffice.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to take a closer look at the starting XI that the self-proclaimed Special One could employ. The team certainly looks, shall we say, interesting, given the injuries that we currently have.

Of course, David de Gea will continue in goal after another excellent display in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Here’s where things change. Eric Bailly will start, but I imagine Chris Smalling will also get the nod as Phil Jones seems to be suffering with a knock. Hopefully, Antonio Valencia is fit enough to play, Ashley Young, too.

Nemanja Matic has been an excellent anchor in the middle of the park for Mourinho, and I fully expect that to continue. Ander Herrera will also play due to injuries to both Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba. Michael Carrick also misses out.

The front four is where United look absolutely lethal. Romelu Lukaku starts as the main striker. He’ll have Henrikh Mkhitaryan sitting just in-behind him. On the flanks, both Marcus Rashford and Anthony martial should play. The pair have been in scintillating form and it’s time to start them both together.
