4-2-3-1: Man Utd XI vs Liverpool – Mata & Rashford out, Schmidfield in

Manchester United find themselves in a real mess at this moment in time, with Louis van Gaal’s side 2-0 down from the first leg against Liverpool. It’ll take a monumental effort from the lads to turn this one around, and the midfield battle will be key.

Ahead of the game we’ve decided to take a look at the strongest potential line-up, and it looks exciting to say the least.

David de Gea will remain in goal with a back two of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind just in front of him. Guillermo Varela simply has to start on the right, with Marcos Rojo playing on the left.

The midfield two needs changing completely, and our strongest pairing has to be starting with both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin – this should allow our front four to roam.

Ander Herrera deserves the nod over Juan Mata, with Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard either side of him. Anthony Martial should start up front giving Marcus Rashford a rest.
