Finally, we’re just a few days away from the return of Manchester United Football Club. We’ve had to wait close to a fortnight to see our Red Devils take to the field again, purely due to the pain that is the international break; thankfully, that’s almost over.
Our first fixture back is a potentially tricky home game against West Bromwich Albion, who are flying high under Tony Pulis. However, Jose Mourinho will be keen to keep the pressure on the sides who are currently above us in the table. Let’s have a look at the likely starting line-up for that game.
In goal, we have one of the best in the business in the form of David de Gea. With Phil Jones and Chris Smalling likely to be injured, that leaves Jose Mourinho with just two centre-back options; Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly. Antonio Valencia has been an absolute machine this campaign, so he’ll play at right-back. I’d love to see Luke Shaw get a start at left-back.
Ander Herrera is suspended, and Paul Pogba picked up that hamstring injury just before the international break, so in all likelihood, the starting spots will be given to Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
Onto the front four then, and once again, we’ll be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he serves the final game of a three-match suspension. Marcus Rashford will get the nod as the lone striker, with a real deadly trio in behind him. Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will get a chance to prove their worth.
