4-2-3-1: Manchester United predicted XI vs Reading – Fosu-Mensah starts

Manchester United Football Club turns their attentions to defending their FA Cup for the first time this weekend. Former Red hero Jaap Stam will bring his excellent Reading side to Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime, in a game that will not be easy.

That said, I firmly expect Jose Mourinho to ring the changes – and rest up some key players ahead of the EFL Trophy game against Hull City, which is rapidly followed by Liverpool’s visit to the Theatre of Dreams.

For this one, I fully expect Sergio Romero to be named the goalkeeper, and he’ll have the English duo of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in front of him. I’d also love to see a rare start for Tim Fosu-Mensah in the right-back slot, with Daley Blind coming in on the left-hand side of the back four.

The midfield isn’t an area in which we are blessed with massive depth in. Marouane Fellaini will probably get a start as the holding midfielder, and he’ll have both Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney in front of him.

The front three is blessed with creativity and pace. Juan Mata will start on the right-hand side, with Anthony Martial back in the line-up on the left. Marcus Rashford will lead the line after a superb display off of the bench against West Ham.
