Manchester United take on one of their bogey sides in Everton this weekend, with the Toffees taking plenty of points from the Old Trafford club over the last few years. This time around this game is a must win if Louis van Gaal has aspirations to finish in the top four.
Ahead of the game we’ve taken an in-depth look at the probable starting XI, and it does contain a couple of surprises here and there.
David de Gea will obviously start in goal, and the back two in front of him will remain unchanged. However, due to Matteo Darmian’s form, and Marcos Rojo pictured smoking a cigarette earlier in the week, the two full-backs could change and we may see both Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Guillermo Varela involved.
Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin will start in the holding midfielder roles, allowing the front four to roam free ahead of them. Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford will all start.
